Autism Concern
Support for sufferers and carers of sufferers of autism via:
- Provision of Youth Programme of Services
- Provision of information and advice, including a drop-in centre;
- Raising awareness of the condition;
Founded 15 years ago by parents whose needs were not being fulfilled in Northampton, the Charity is staffed and run by persons who have family or close friend sufferers. The on-going strategies are member-led.
The Charity has recently restructured, examined the on-going projects and consequently re-prioritised the services it provides. The Charity remains committed to maintaining programmes for young sufferers in particular.

Northampton Door to Door Service
Provision of transport services for the disabled and elderly and their carers via:
- Provision of mini-buses to transport individuals on a door to door pick-up basis;
- Specially trained drivers to assist disabled individuals;
- Provision of day-trips and shopping excursions;
NDDS was founded 12 years ago following an Appeal by the (then) current Lord Mayor of Northampton after identifying the lack of a sorely needed unique service.
The Charity has grown from 1 mini-bus to 5 and provides transport for other local charities including the Shopmobility services in Northampton town centre. However, it can only currently support approximately 20% of the need in Northampton. Additionally, the buses are often idle at weekends and the Charity would like to increase the provision of the use of the minibuses to other local charities to utilise their availability to full potential.
